June 23, 2021

KHAR: A large number of people, including local political leaders and workers, on Tuesday took to the main road and blocked it for vehicular traffic against the murder of a labourer from Bajaur in Larkana in Sindh the previous day.

The protesters placed the body of the labourer identified as Attaullah, a resident of Bajaur, on the main road and blocked it for traffic for several hours to protest his killing. They alleged that the labourer was killed in Larkana in Sindh for no crime. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused involved in his murder.

Addressing the protesters, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf district chief Dr Khalilur Rahman, secretary Najibullah Bilal, ex-candidate Malik Khalid Khan, Gul Afzal Khan of the Awami National Party, Qari Abdul Majeed of Jamaat-e-Islami, Saeedur Rahman of the Pakistan People’s Party, traders’ leader Sufi Hameed and others said that residents of Bajaur were being killed in every part of the country without committing any crime.

They said that Attaullah was brutally murdered in Naseerabad in Larkana, who had gone there to earn livelihood for his poor family.

The speakers condemned the Sindh police for their failure to arrest the accused and the district administration of Bajaur to take up the issue with the relevant quarters.

Later, the protesters ended the protest and opened the road for traffic after Superintendent of Police (investigation) Waqar Khan held successful talks with Malik Khalid Khan, Dr Khalilur Rahman, Gul Afzal Khan and others.

It was decided that a jirga of local elders and officials of police and other law enforcing agencies will be held at the deputy commissioner office to devise a line of action to resolve the issue today.
