Tariq Malik appointed Chairman Nadra
ISLAMABAD: The federal government Monday notified Tariq Malik as Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for three years.
“In exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 (3) of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) Ordinance 2000, the Competent Authority has been pleased to appoint Mr. Muhammad Tariq Malik as chairman Nadra for a term of three years in terms of Section 3 (5) of Nadra Ordinance, 2000,” reads a notification of the interior ministry.
Earlier, the federal cabinet had approved Tariq Malik’s name in the summary forwarded by the ministry.Meantime, a Nadra spokesman brushed aside a news claiming that the incumbent chairman was drawing $20,000 salary.
He termed the news a hoax, as no government employee was paid salary in dollars. However, the authority board of Nadra is the competent forum to decide the emoluments of the newly appointed chairman, the spokesman stated.
Currently, Tariq Malik is working as Chief Technical Advisor, United Nations Development Program (UNDP). He has resigned from the current position and is likely to take charge very soon, the spokesman said.
