18 more die from corona in Punjab

LAHORE:Around 18 COVID-19 patients died and 171 new positive cases were confirmed in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

According to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) report issued on Sunday, the toll of fatalities reached 10,633 in Punjab, while confirmed cases of coronavirus became 344,970 in the province. Around two deaths occurred in Lahore, which raised the toll to 4,281 in provincial metropolis.

After 10,633 fatalities and recovery of a total of 324,530 patients, 9,807 active cases still remain, who are either isolated at homes or under treatment at different quarantine centres and health facilities.

246 recover: Around 302,952 corona patients recovered in public sector hospitals and 246 patients recovered during the last 24 hours, said Punjab Specialized Healthcare Secretary Nabeel Ahmed here on Sunday. He said decline in wave of Corona pandemic was witnessed in the province which reflected that out of 7,221 beds reserved in all govt hospitals for corona patients, 6,632 beds were lying unoccupied. Likewise, 1,555 beds reserved in govt hospitals of Lahore and 1,337 beds were vacant so far. The secretary said that the department had arranged 3,185 beds in isolation wards of all govt hospitals in the province, out of which, 2,997 beds were vacant.
