LAHORE: A special court Saturday adjourned the hearing of drug trafficking case against Punjab former law minister Rana Sanaullah till July 31. Rana Sanaullah is accused of trafficking 15-kg heroin. The court adjourned hearing without any development as the trial judge was not available. He was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and an FIR was registered against him.

The ANF claimed that it had received a tip-off that the vehicle of Rana Sanaullah was carrying a heavy quantity of narcotics after which a raid was conducted. The FIR said when the ANF officials intercepted his vehicle, he and his guards indulged in a scuffle with them. However, the ANF also claimed that when asked about the presence of drugs in the vehicle, Rana himself pointed towards a blue suitcase on the back seat of the car. The ANF claimed in the FIR that he had admitted the presence of heroin in the suitcase. The drug enforcement agency seized 15-kg heroin and weapons from the possession of the accused, the FIR read.

After the hearing Rana Sanaullah while talking to the media said that the PTI government did nothing during its three years of rule except vindicating its political opponents.

Fake slogan of accountability raised by the government has been exposed, Rana added.

Rana said that the drama of accountability was launched in 2014 to tarnish the image of the country’s politics.

He alleged that the Chief Justice Lahore High Court had sent names for appointment of judges but the law minister wants to appoint judges of his own choice.

He alleged that the law minister wants judges like Arshad Malik to be appointed.

Rana claimed that Arshad Malik repented before he died and spoke of the pressure to punish Nawaz Sharif. He said FIA was given task after the NAB failed to do anything. Jahangir Tareen has been given NRO to get the budget passed, Rana said.
