KARACHI: Pakistan’s top squash player Tayyab Aslam says he is looking forward to his match against World No 4 Paul Coll in the PSA World Championships 2020-2021 to be held in Chicago, United States, from July 14-22.
The draws for the 2020-21 PSA World Championships were announced on Friday and unseeded Tayyab is to face fourth seed Paul Coll from New Zealand in the first round.
Before the world championship, Tayyab will feature in Squash on Fire Open that is to be held from June 27 to July 1 in Washington.
“I am leaving on Sunday morning. I will first play Squash on Fire Open where I am fourth seed and got bye in the first round,” said Tayyab while talking to ‘The News’.
He added that he would then play the world championship where he is the only Pakistani player.
“The draws are tough and I have to face world number four in the first round. I am expecting a good match with me giving a hard time to Paul,” said Tayyab.
Tayyab, ranked 43rd, said he had trained quite well in the last five months. “I have trained well in the previous months, I hope this will pay back to me during the matches,” said Tayyab.
He said the matches would have a good impact on his international ranking. “I am hopeful that my ranking will improve with participation in these events,” said Tayyab.
It is pertinent to mention here that Tayyab lost in the first round in the 2018-2019 PSA World Championships.
