ISLAMABAD: A three-member delegation, led by the Chief Election Commissioner of Nepal, Dr Ayodee Prasad Yadov, visited the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) here on Tuesday.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza welcomed the distinguished guests. In the opening remarks, the CEC termed the visit as beneficial one to learn from the experiences of each other and sharing the expertise to deal with the common challenges.
The delegation was briefed in detail about the overall structure, functions and mandate of the ECP including training and appointment of the polling staff, preparation and updation of electoral rolls and printing of ballot papers etc.
Dr Ayodee expressed his sincere thanks to the Election Commission and applauded it over the successful conduction of huge Local Government Elections. He said as Nepal has not conducted elections to the Local Governments for the last eighteen years, therefore, this visit would help the Election Commission of Nepal in undergoing the exercise of local government elections in Nepal.
