KARACHI: The President, Dr Arif Alvi, on Thursday held a meeting here at the Sindh Governor’s House on water-related issues of Karachi. Issues pertaining to K-IV bulk water supply and TP-4 sewage treatment projects in Karachi were discussed in detail during the meeting.
The Sindh Governor, Imran Ismail, MPA Halim Adil Shaikh, MPA Firdous Shamim Naqvi and a 5-member team of experts from HUBCO attended the meeting.
Expressing concern over water shortages in Karachi, Alvi directed exploring possibilities for a desalination plant in the city, besides taking other necessary steps or arrangements. The meeting approved a team for expert advice and implementation of the recommendations for sustainable water solution to the city.
The president was given a comprehensive briefing over the available water resources, ongoing projects and other schemes in Karachi. Alvi was also briefed about the possible installation of Reverse Osmosis plants in targeted areas of Sindh, including Karachi.
