LCCI recognises 13 companies with IT Awards
LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Thursday awarded 13 top companies with the first information technology awards to recognise this vital sector of the economy with potential to boost exports by $5 billion.
The awards were distributed by President Dr Arif Alvi. Companies that were awarded included Systems Ltd, Bilytica Pvt Ltd, Abacus Consulting Technology Pvt Ltd, Multinet Pakistan Pvt Ltd, Mentor Graphics Pakistan Pvt Ltd and others.
Dr Alvi lauded the companies for their services to both domestic and international clients. Underscoring the need for the training of IT graduates and youth to boost skills, Dr Alvi said that the IT sector of the country has the potential to boost IT exports up to $5 billion by 2023.
Promotion of information technology and digital communication could lead economic development of the country, which was why “the present government is focusing on its (IT sector) development”.
The president said that information technology and digital communication have always been vital, but importance of these has been multiplied during the Covid-19 era. “Information technology is the prime area for focus for the government. Investment in IT sector is being encouraged.”
Dr Alvi also appreciated the LCCI for taking the initiative of IT Awards.
LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah said prudent economic policies of the government have taken us out of the trap of negative growth rates, and enabled us to grow by almost four percent in 2020-21. He hoped Pakistan would be able to achieve the growth rate of 6-7 percent in the next 2-3 years as envisaged in the budget.
“Businesses around the globe are capitalising on opportunities emerging from digitisation, such as supply chain efficiency, enhanced production quality and lower transaction costs etc. This facilitates the creation of adequate value-added goods and services in the economy,” he added. Pakistan’s IT exports have not even crossed $1.5 billion dollars so far.
President of Pakistan and LCCI chief congratulated the winners of LCCI IT Awards who have excelled in the provision of outstanding services to both the domestic and international clients and also won laurels for the country in these challenging economic times.
Asif Akram of Systems Ltd, Muhammad Usman Ahmad of Bilytica Pvt Ltd, Fatima Asad Khan of Abacus Consulting Technology Pvt Ltd, Adnan Hayat Zaidi of Multinet Pakistan Pvt Ltd, Muhammad Zeshan Altaf of Mentor Graphics Pakistan Pvt Ltd received the IT awards.
