Bid to grab expat’s house foiled

LAHORE:Lahore police on Wednesday, foiled an attempt by some land grabbers to illegally get possession of a house worth Rs three crore after harassing the owner, an America-based old Pakistani widow Samina Imran.

According to details, Garden Town Police received a call from emergency helpline 15, late last night regarding some criminals trying to forcefully occupy the house of the old widow at Sher Shah Block, Garden Town.

Police immediately rushed to the spot while the accused party, who prepared the fake ownership documents of the house, fled from the scene after listening about the arrival of police. Before fleeing they threatened the old lady to face the consequences after their failed attempt and locked the main gates of the house from outside, detaining the fearful old lady and her family in their own house. Police unlocked the gates of the house and freed the detained family. Police has registered a case on the complaint of Umar Ahmad Khan against nominated accused Ilyas Amin, Jamila Afzal, Umar Farooq, M Usman, Asma Afzal and other unknown criminals in PS Garden Town. The victim widow called on the CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Wednesday and expressed her gratitude for the timely action of Garden Town police.

Dogar said that citizens have been benefited well from the visible relief as Lahore Police took prompt and effective measures to restore their lands and properties worth billions of rupees from the land grabbers.
