One dies of corona from Pindi, 84 new cases reported

Rawalpindi : Coronavirus illness, COVID-19 has claimed another life from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours while as many as 84 new patients have been reported positive for the illness from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

It is, however, alarming that the positivity rate of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi has started showing an upward trend at least for the last one-and-a-half weeks and it has been recorded as 3.47 per cent in the last 24 hours.

According to In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid, as many as 920 tests were conducted in the district in the last 24 hours of which 32 turned out to be positive for COVID-19 at a positivity rate of 3.47 per cent.

He added that as many as 494,512 persons have so far been vaccinated against the infection including 465,915 individuals from general public and 28,597 healthcare workers.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Saturday has revealed that the total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities has reached 106,621 of which 1,755 have lost their lives due to the illness.

After another COVID-19 death from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours, the death toll became 986. Another 20 patients belonging to the district have been tested positive in the last 24 hours taking tally to 24,556 of which 23,298 patients have recovered.

According to Dr. Jawad, a total of 17 confirmed patients were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town while 255 patients were in home isolation on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the virus did not claim any life from ICT in the last 24 hours from where a total of 769 patients died of the illness since the advent of coronavirus in Pakistan. As many as 64 new patients have been reported positive for COVID-19 from ICT that has taken total number of patients so far tested positive from the federal capital to 82,065.
