Delimitation for LG polls rejected
PESHAWAR: The Hayatabad Qaumi Jirga has rejected the inclusion of Phase-6 and 7 in the Pishtakhara neighborhood council for the local government election.
In a statement, Hayatabad Qaumi Jirga general secretary and former nazim Hayatabad-II Sirajul Haq said that Hayatabad had a separate status since 2001 in the local government system.
The demanded the government to grant separate neighbourhoods to Industrial Estate, Phase-5, 6 and 7 in upcoming local government elections or else they would move the court of law.
They said that improper delimitation of constituencies was the main cause of low voter turnout in the elections.
Asking the Election Commission of Pakistan to declare Hayatabad a separate constituency of the provincial assembly keeping in view the number of voters in the township.
They asked the chief minister to take notice of the issue and grant separate neighbourhoods for Phase-6 and 7 or else they would be compelled to move the court for their rights.
