LGH to recruit 1,373 nurses

The Punjab Health Department has sent a case for recruitment against 1,373 new posts of charge nurses for Lahore General Hospital to be approved by the Punjab Finance Department.
According to a press release, Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof Khalid Mahmood had requested for new posts to the provincial government submitting that LGH had been functional since 1958 and the ever growing population had also increased the number of patients coming to the hospital manifold.
The Punjab chief minister has also increased the number of beds at LGH to 1,000 along with establishment of many new departments. He said increase in posts of charge nurses according to the ratio of patients was inevitable to facilitate patients. The press release stated that agreeing to the recommendations of the principal, the Punjab Health Department has referred the case for the recruitment of 1,373 charge nurses to the Finance Department for approval.
Honoured: A private institute held a get-together of distinguished alumni at its auditorium the other day. According to a press release issued on Sunday, the ceremony was presided over by Chairman, Board of Governors Syed Babar Ali while rector, Steve Ryan, faculty members, former students and their families attended the function in large numbers.
Rasheed Ahmad Phularwan- a visually impaired alumnus of the AIE was given a shield of 'distinguished alumnus' by Syed Babar Ali in recognition of his valuable services in the field of education.
The chairman praised the commitment and passion of Phularwan towards education promotion in the impecunious strata and termed him as a valuable asset to society, who has worked tremendously. \ Phularwan has successfully carried out different capacity building projects including Cholistan Community Schools of Punjab Education Foundation spread over three districts in Bahawalpur division. He has previously worked with UNDP and other institutions of prestige where he used his acumen to promote quality education at grassroots level.
While receiving the award, Rasheed Phularwan thanked the AIE management and vowed to continue working for the cause of education.
PhDs: Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to eight scholars. Bintul Khurshid d/o Akhtar Hussain Jaffery has been awarded a PhD in education, Naveed Elahi s/o Sh. Hameed Elahi in sociology, Agung Nugroho Puspito s/o Totok Ponari in molecular biology, Muhammad Amjad Khan s/o Muhammad Afzal Khan in zoology, Tanzeela Riaz d/o Ch. Riaz Ahmad in zoology, Umera Dogar d/o Hakim Ali Dogar in botany, Muhammad Ishfaq s/o Karam Din in botany and Fatima Waqi d/o Kh. Waqi-ul-Haq in international relations.
