98 criminal gangs busted in May
LAHORE:Lahore police arrested 221 members of 98 criminal gangs during the month of May.
Police arrested 568 criminals and seized 45 rifles, two Kalashnikovs, 23 guns, nine daggers, 464 revolvers and pistols from their possession. More than 343kg chars, 9kg and 717grm heroin, 1kg and 858grm ice drug, more than 2kg opium and 9,728 bottles of liquor were seized from 917 arrested accused. An amount of more than Rs824000 was recovered from 92 accused during a crackdown on gamblers.
Lahore Police also arrested 178 criminals during its action against brothels’ in the City. Police arrested 304 proclaimed offenders of A&B categories in cases of theft, cheque bounce, fraud and other crimes. As many as 3237 criminals were arrested for violation of ban on wheelie, kite flying, firing into the air, begging, and under Price Control Act and Loudspeaker Act.
