49 more die from corona
LAHORE:Around 49 more patients died from COVID-19 and another 403 positive cases were confirmed in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
According to report issued by Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) on Sunday, the toll of fatalities reached 10,290 in Punjab, while confirmed cases of coronavirus became 342,192 in the province.
After 10,290 fatalities and recovery of a total of 317,190 patients so far, 14,712 active cases still remain, who are either isolated at homes or under treatment at different public and private hospitals.
297,040 patients recover: Around 297,040 corona patients recovered in the public sector hospitals being run under the control of Specialised and Primary & Secondary Healthcare departments, while 617 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. This was disclosed by Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan Secretary Specialised Healthcare Punjab Sunday. He said that 7,583 beds were reserved in all government hospitals for corona patients, out of which 6,268 beds were unoccupied. Likewise, 1,640 beds reserved in govt. hospitals of the provincial metropolis and 1,319 beds were vacant so far.
The Secretary SHC&MED said that in view of the surging corona pandemic, the department had arranged 3,344 beds in Isolation wards of all government hospitals in the province, out of which, 2,971 beds were vacant.
However, 429 beds for corona patients are reserved in isolation wards set up in govt hospitals of Lahore and 384 beds are unoccupied. In addition, 3,450 beds are also reserved in HDU for patients suffering from COVID-19 in all the hospitals of Punjab government and 2,760 beds are vacant while, in hospitals of Lahore, 927 beds reserved in HDU and 745 beds are unoccupied, Nabeel Awan added.
The Secretary SHC said the health department had arranged 789 ventilators for corona patients in all hospitals of the provincial government, of which 252 ventilators were under use while 537 were unoccupied. Around 284 ventilators were reserved in Lahore hospitals, of which 94 remained occupied and 190 ventilators were vacant, said Nabeel Awan.
