Rs 3100m IUB budget approved

BAHAWALPUR: The 60th meeting of the Syndicate of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) approved Rs 3100.596 million budget for the year 2015-16.
IBU Vice-Chancellor Dr Qaisar Mushtaq chaired the meeting at Abbasia Campus. The syndicate approved the appointment of one professor, one associate professor (applicants since 2012) and 93 assistant professors besides promotion of 54 administrative staff members.
Khalid Mehmood Jajja, Parliamentary Secretary Punjab, Prof Dr Zia ul Qayyum, Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat, Justice Ameer Iqbal Bhatti, Justice Lahore High Court (Bahawalpur Bench), Prof Dr Muhammad Asghar Hashmi, Dean faculty of Science, Prof Dr Mahmood Ahmad, Dean faculty of Medicine, Ms Rabia Yasmeen, Principal Government College for Women Bahawalpur, Khalil ur Rehman, Assistant Professor, Ch Munir Ahmad, representative of Finance Department Punjab, Mian Ghulam Rasool, representative of Higher Education Department Punjab, Fakhar Bashir, Treasurer and Abdul Sattar Khan, Registrar were present as members of the Syndicate. Apart from the annual budget, Rs 675.716m were also approved as development budget. The members appreciated the completion of selection board and board of advanced studies by appointment of members by the VC. The implementation of two semesters per year and receiving of fee in two installments was also praised. The members also approved adoption of 3 per cent job quota for disabled persons in the varsity as per the government of the Punjab policy. The agreement between the university and the National Testing Service for scholarships and admission tests was also approved. The members praised various administrative, academic and financial steps taken by the VC for the betterment of the varsity.
BIKER INJURED: A motorcyclist of a courier company sustained injuries when he along with his motorcycle fell into a manhole on Saturday.
Deliver man identified as Muhammad Shahbaz fell into a manhole and sustained injuries. After the incident, hundreds of Christians staged a demonstration against the TMA Chishtian for their negligence in covering manholes.
TRADER DIES: A cloth trader was killed in a road accident on Saturday. Muhammad Ashraf was hit by a vehicle near Marri Shaoq Elahi, Chishtian, on Saturday when he was on way home after selling cloths in nearby villages.
