Preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi in full swing

Rawalpindi:  The residents of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are busy in preparations to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi with religious zeal fervor on December 24.

According to the Rawalpindi Commissioner's Office, 'Milad' committees and different organisations are arranging conferences and meetings. Religious, social and cultural organisations are finalising programmes to organise 'Milad' and 'Seerat' meetings where speakers will highlight various aspects of the life and teachings of Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (peace be upon him).

The City Traffic Police (CTP) has finalised traffic plan for Eid Milad-un-Nabi. According to the plan, the majority of vehicles would be diverted to Rawal Road and Airport Road as maximum processions would pass through Benazir Bhutto Road, Kutchery Road, Jhanda Road, Lalkurti Road, Mall Road, Jhelum Road, Pirwadhai Road, I J Principal Road and Peshawar Road on Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

The followers are decorating mosques, city malls, neighbourhoods and streets.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Daal has directed the municipal administrations of Rawal and Potohar towns, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to clear the routes of main procession of Eid Milad-un-Nabi. The concerned officer has directed the Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) to clean all procession routes a day before Eid Milad-un-Nabi. The civic authorities would also cover all manholes in city before Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

He said three camps would be established at Rawal Town Office, Committee Chowk and Commercial Market to provide emergency services. Ambulance and first aid services would also be available at these camps. There will be good lighting arrangements and generator arrangements at the procession routes.

Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) Chief Sanitary Inspector Changez Khan told ‘The News’ that they have paid salaries of this month to all Christian employees for the Christmas. 

The sanitary workers would clear all procession routes two days before Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
