Into the tunnel
By News Desk
December 14, 2015
Chitral mostly remains out of reach for six months because the Lowari Top snows heavily, cutting off access to the area. Fortunately, with the construction of the Lowari Tunnel this problem has been overcome to some extent. However, the government allows the tunnel to remain open for only two days in a week. This is creating manifold problems for the people of Chitral.
One can see a large number of vehicles queuing up to enter the tunnel during the severe winter months. This is an impossible situation for patients, children and old people. A mechanism needs to be evolved to let patients and others in need travel through the tunnel with more ease.
