Tribute paid to police martyrs

CCPO Muhammad Ameen Vance has termed the martyrs of Lahore police real heroes of the nation and said the Lahore police are performing its duty with fervour and zeal to foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements and protect the lives and property of citizens. While addressing a function arranged in the honour of Lahore police martyrs at Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh on Sunday, the CCPO said that this function had been arranged to reiterate their pledge that they would not hesitate to shed the last drop of their blood to nip the anti-state actors and criminals in the bud. He said the martyrs had written glorious chapters of courage and valour for establishing peace in the country and the entire nation was proud of unprecedented sacrifices of martyrs. He said around 270 officers and Jawans of Lahore police had embraced Shahadat. He said they knew about the activities of foreign agencies and anti-state elements with regard to sabotaging the visit of Zimbabwe cricket team but the Lahore police proved to be a main hurdle in their way which not only foiled their nefarious design but also showed bravery as inspector Abdul Majeed foiled an attempt of a suicide attacker and the match continued without interruption. The DCO said that the way the Lahore police had given honour to the families of martyrs was an example to follow by others. He said such functions should be held constantly as the families of martyrs deserved to be praised and honoured. SSP CIA, senior journalists and anchors also spoke on this occasion. DIG Operations, DIG Investigation, SSP Investigation, SP CIA, SP Headquarters, divisional SPs and senior journalists and anchors attended the function.
