Sindh Assembly condoles death of PPP MPA from Badin

The Sindh Assembly on the first day of its new session on Wednesday deferred its routine proceedings in memory of a lawmaker of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party from Badin, Basheer Ahmed Halepoto, who had passed away a day earlier after a prolonged illness.

Sindh Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahoo presented a resolution to condole the death of the PPP MPA who had been elected from the PS-70 Badin-1 constituency.

The provincial minister said on the occasion that the late MPA was a prominent politician of his area and was known for his peculiar style. Rahoo added that the deceased legislator used to take keen interest in resolution of the problems of his constituency.

According to the agriculture minister, the late Halepoto was also fond of horse racing and culture of Sindh. Opposition MPA of the Grand Democratic Alliance Abdul Razzaque Rahimoon also offered condolences on the demise of the PPP MPA.

The House also earlier prayed for the quick recovery of Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife who have been diagnosed with Covid-19. The legislature also observed one-minute silence to condole the demise of journalist Ajay Lalwani who was recently murdered in the Saleh Pat area of Sukkur.

Opposition MPA of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Khurrum Sher Zaman demanded that an inquiry be ordered to probe the killing of the journalist. He also raised the issue of the teachers’ protest outside the Sindh Assembly and said any government representative should go and talk to the protesters for the resolution of their issues.
