LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to seek security from the Pakistan Rangers for March 26, when Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz will appear at its Lahore offices.

According to a press release, issued here on Monday, the Bureau said that through the media reports, it had learnt that a conspiracy was being hatched by some accused persons and their political workers to attack its Lahore offices on March 26 and create hurdles in performance of its legal duties.

The Bureau said that in the wake of those reports, it had decided to seek security from the Pakistan Rangers. The Bureau was also corresponding with the departments concerned to declare the NAB Lahore offices area as the red zone, the statement added.

NAB has made it clear that it would always play its role in eradicating corruption from the country and recovering billions of rupees from the corrupt elements in accordance with the Constitution and the law, regardless of any threats or pressure. “NAB is a national anti-corruption body that does not belong to any political party, group or individual, but only to the state of Pakistan,” NAB concluded.

In response to the NAB media statement, Maryam took to her social media handle on Monday and wrote on her twitter that “NAB was fearful of an unarmed girl”. She said NAB had already carried out a murderous attack on that ‘unarmed girl’. She said NAB would also be held answerable for the ill-attitude meted out to her during her detention days. She said everything would be brought into the knowledge of the nation, and the names of those involved in the injustice would also be made public.
