This refers to the article, ‘The CPEC controversy’ (December 5) by Malik Muhammad Ashraf. The writer rightly concluded that making the CPEC project controversial will not only send a wrong message to our all-weather friend China but will also be detrimental to our interests.
Unfortunately, we have developed a habit of politicising everything, irrespective of its consequences on our security situation. Whichever route – eastern or western – is developed first, our country will be the ultimate beneficiary. What we need to remember is that national interests should govern our priorities.
