A delegation of Pakistan Qaumi Zaban Tehrik (National language movement) headed by Prof Saleem Hashmi called on Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq at Mansoora and lauded his efforts for the enforcement of Urdu in the country. Talking to the delegation, Sirajul Haq said Urdu language was the symbol of national unity and its enforcement was essential for national cohesion and success. He said if JI was voted to power, its foremost action would be to enforce Urdu as national and official language. The delegation included Aziz Zafar Azad, Fatima Qamar, Saeed Hasan and Javed Ahmad Butt.
Meanwhile, JI secretary-general Liaqat Baloch in a statement said the economic policy of the government was a complete failure and IMF dictation had hugely burdened the country with increasing loans.
Munawar: JI former ameer Syed Munawar Hasan said there was no rule of the Election Commission which as was not being violated in Karachi local government elections campaign, adding yet the MQM was going to suffer a serious setback in the results. Talking to the media after arriving at Allama Iqbal Airport on Tuesday afternoon, he said PTI-JI electoral alliance in the port city had given much hope to the people that it would steer not only Karachi but the national politics out of crisis. Syed Munawar Hasan said people of Karachi had heaved a sigh of relief due to the Karachi operation but the results of the operation had not been visible as had been expected, and added that the liaison between the people and the Rangers should be increased for this purpose.
Munawar Hasan said Election Commission was a silent spectator on the violations of election rules and code of conduct in Karachi.
