Nerve centre to be set up to curb crime

LAHORE
CCPO Amin Vains has said joint search operations will be conducted in the limits of border areas’ police stations.
While addressing a joint meeting of officers of adjoining districts at SP Model Town’s office on Tuesday, he said joint police check-posts would be set up at entry and exit points of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Okara. He said that a nerve centre would be established in Lahore to make joint strategy against anti-state elements and criminals. DPOs of all the said districts would be members of this centre, he added.
He said a joint investigation team would be constituted to investigate those absconders, robbers and criminals who had committed crimes in more than one district. The meeting also decided to provide the lists of Proclaimed Offenders and court absconders to the DPO office of the said districts.
processions: A final plan has been approved by Punjab IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera to protect processions and Majalis on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
In 36 districts of Punjab, 46,963 police officers / officials will perform security duties to protect 554 processions and 987 Majalis in Punjab. These processions and Majalis were divided into three categories A, B and C, respectively. As many as 113 processions will be included in A, 174 B and 267 of C category, whereas, 93 Majalis of A, 305 B and 589 of C category will be held in the province. Total 39 companies of Pakistan army will remain on stand by position in 20 districts, particularly in 92 flashing points as declared most sensitive. Deployed force 46,963 included 34,134 of police, 10,953 of PQR and 1,876 of special police in which 228 gazetted officers, 547 inspectors, 1,941 sub-inspectors, 2,893 ASIs, 2379 HCs and 25,123 constables will perform security duty. Directing the field officers, the provincial police chief emphasised to follow the security SOP which was issued on Muharram. He directed to establish surprise pickets at all entrance and exit points of the cities and to continue the search and sweep operations around important buildings, markets, bus terminals, banks, hotels, hostels and restaurants till the end of the last procession or Majlis.
Body found: A 35-year-old unidentified man was found dead in the Naulakha police limits on Tuesday. The police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. A passerby informed the police about a man lying unconscious. Police reached the incident place and shifted him to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him as brought dead. The police said the victim seemed to be a drug-addict and might have died of excessive use of drugs.
10 gamblers held: Factory Area police on Tuesday arrested 10 persons from a snooker club on a charge of gambling. Among the arrested persons were Bilal, Arsalan, Iftikhar and Nasir. Factory Area SHO Inspector Sheikh Hammad Akhtar received an information that betting was in progress at a snooker club in Chungi Amarsadhu area. He constituted a special team, which raided the club and arrested the gamblers. Police recovered Rs 52,000, eight cell-phones and other goods on the spot.
KILLED ON ROAD: A 45-year-old man died in a road accident in the New Anarkali police limits. The police removed the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Arshad. Police said that the victim was crossing a road when a car hit him. As a result, he received injuries. He was shifted to a hospital where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
TRAIN KILLS MAN: A 35-year-old man died in an accident when a train ran over him in Ravi Road police limits. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Arshad of Badamibagh. Police said the victim was crossing a bridge on Ravi River when a train ran over him. He died on the spot.
