Heera eliminates Hameed in Subh-e-Nau Tennis

KARACHI: Veteran tennis player Hameed-ul-Haq was elbowed out in the first round of Subh-e-Nau National Tennis Championship on Tuesday as he conceded straight sets to seasoned Heera Ashiq in men’s singles event at PTF Complex Tennis Complex in Islamabad.
Yasir Khan faced tough resistance from young Aman Atique as he lost the first set and was 4-6 down in the second. But he recovered to pull off a victory after a thrilling encounter.
Pakistan’s number one player Aqeel Khan brushed aside Ejaz Khan in a one-sided contest to move into the second round.
Other players who won matches included Raja Shahid, Arham Atique, Usman Rafique, Muhammad Abid and Malik Hamza.
Aqib Umer, Ilham Khan and Hamza bin Rehan won their respective first round matches of boys under-18 category and qualified for the second round.
