Arrangements for LB polls in Bahawalpur finalised

BAHAWALPUR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalised all arrangements for local bodies elections in the Bahawalpur district on December 5.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has given final touches to necessary administrative and security measures for free, fair and transparent polling process in the district. The ECP sources said on Tuesday that approximately 1.6 million voters will exercise their right of vote in 127 union councils of Bahawalpur district in the third phase of local bodies elections.
Sources said that a total 1,255 polling stations have been established for polling scheduled to be held on December 5. Out of these, 208 polling stations each have been set up for male and female voters while 835 polling stations are combined. A total of 3,695 polling booths will be formed in these polling stations of which 2,007 are for male voters and 1,688 for females.
Overall, 23 Returning Officers, 46 Assistant Returning Officers, 1,045 male Presiding Officers, 210 female Presiding Officers, 2,007 male Polling Officers, 1,688 female Polling Officers, 3,785 male Assistant Polling Officers and 3,185 female Assistant Polling Officers will conduct the polling.
Three chairmen and 30 councillors have already been elected unopposed in the district. Out of 1,255 polling stations, 60 have been declared as extremely sensitive, 110 sensitive and 1,085 are placed in normal category.Special security arrangements have been made by the district police to ensure peaceful conduct of elections.
