Pemra’s new head vows to work without fear, favour

ISLAMABAD: Pemra Chairman Absar Alam has said that he would deliver his duties without fear, greed and would ensure justice and impartiality. He said he would make decisions in accordance with rules and regulations and in consultation with stakeholders.
He said he would run the Authority as per the constitution and will have no favourite or opponent. He said Pemra rules will be followed openly and transparently. This he said during the first interview with Jang Group after taking over his office on December 1.
He is a senior journalist and has worked with different media houses. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved notification of his appointment on November 11. He said he would counter cultural onslaught of a neighbouring country on Pakistan by implementing Pemra rules and regulations honestly.
He said market of 200 million Pakistanis belongs only to Pemra and no one else would be allowed to dent it. He said he would empower Pemra team and work according to the constitution. He would meet all media groups separately and with their cooperation, he would promote ethics and oriental values in Pakistan. He said he would make Pemra an exemplary body and would not give in to any undue pressure.
