ATC issues non-bailable arrest warrant for Lyari gangwar criminal Shahid Bikik

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Monday issued non-bailable warrants (NBW) of arrest against an alleged Lyari gangwar criminal Shahid Bikik involved in the Rashid Godial attack case and three other cases registered at the Gulberg police station.
This was for the second time that the court issued NBW against Shahid Bikik in the Rashid Godial attack case and ordered to arrest Bikik and ensure his production in the court on December 21.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rashid Godial was attacked by armed men on August 18 in the area of Bahadurabad. According to the police, Rashid Godial was on his way from Baloch Colony area to his residence in Bahadurabad when he was attacked.
The police 10 days later had claimed to arrest a man namely Waseem as a ‘main character’ in the attack.The police had claimed that Waseem was arrested with the help of CCTV footage and he confessed in front of police that he attacked on Rashid Godial.
The police had further claimed that Waseem had made the plan with his friends in his house and then they attacked on him. Then on October 12, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police had claimed to have arrested two accused for their alleged involvement in an armed attack on Rashid Godil. The CTD had carried out raids in several areas of Karachi and Hyderabad, arresting two suspects, who were allegedly involved in shooting on Rashid Godil.
The police had said the alleged criminals belong to ‘a political party’.The MQM leader Rashid Godil had come under an armed attack and sustained serious injuries when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on his car in Bahadurabad area of Karachi.
New Town police on August 19 had registered a case against unknown suspects on terror charges for the brutal attack on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA Rashid Godil.According to police officer Abid Qaimkhani, the FIR No 254/2015 was registered on complaint of Godial’s brother-in-law under Section 7-ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997), Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code and other sections against unknown suspects.
In the case of Shahid Bikik, the police had been claiming for his involvement in several incidents. Once he was arrested but was found innocent on the level of police and ultimately was freed by the ATC concerned that considered the police report. Now he is being accused to have his involvement in Rashid Godial attack case and some other cases revolving around terrorist activities.
