PTI leader among four booked for torturing bank employee

FAISALABAD: Sargodha Road police have registered a case against PTI local leader Rana Mubashir and three others on the charges of torturing bank employee Muhammad Ramzan and hurling threats to him.
According to complaint lodged by the bank employee, he was going to his house when the accused stopped him near Millat Chowk and tortured him. The accused also threatened him of dire consequences and sent an objectionable message on his mobile phone. The case has been registered under Sections 25-D of the Telegraph Act and 505/11/34 of the PPC.
THREE KILLED ON ROAD: Three people were killed in as many road accidents here on Tuesday.
In the first incident, Abdul Wahid was waiting for a bus when a truck crushed him to death on Jhang Road near Airport Chowk. In the second incident, Nadeem Ahmad was killed while his mother Ramzan Bibi was critically injured when a bus hit their motorcycle at Nishatabad. The injured woman was shifted to a hospital. In the third incident, a teenager was killed when a motorcycle hit him at Nishatabad.
MAN GETS DEATH FOR MURDER: Additional Sessions Judge Arif Hameed Sheikh on Tuesday awarded death sentence and Rs 800,000 fine to Shahzad Qamar of Madina Town in a murder case.
The judge also awarded three-year imprisonment and Rs 20,000 fine to another accused in the case. The court, however, acquitted five other accused, Khalid Rauf, Muhammad Ramzan, Faqir Hussain, Zahid Shahzad and Muhammad Imran, giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Meanwhile, District and Sessions Judge Arshad Mehmood awarded death sentence and Rs 600,000 fine to Syed Ahmad of Chak 67/JB, Thikriwala, in a murder case. According to the prosecution, the convict had stabbed to death a man of his village over an old enmity.
94 BOOKED: Chak Jhumra police have registered a case against 94 persons on the charges of blocking a road during a demonstration.
Those booked include Arshad. They had blocked a road by burning tyres during a demonstration in favour of their demands.
