KARACHI: The PHF president Brig (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokar on Saturday said that he will approach the federal government for live telecast of the Junior Asia Cup 2015 final to be played between Pakistan and India on Sunday (today).
While talking to ‘The News’, Khalid praised the performance of the junior hockey team in the tournament and said that it proves that hockey is not dying the country.
“Pakistan is producing talented players who can turn the tables at any time,” said Khalid.
He said that the Asia Cup is an important tournament for Pakistan hockey and it proved a life line for sport as after only one month of training along with some matches with the senior team, the juniors were able to display good performances in the event and in the process.
Khalid also said that live telecast of the final — that too against arch-rivals India — will benefit sport in the country and fans would be delighted to witness the encounter.
“I will request Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and federal government for live telecast of the final between two fierce rivals,” he said.
Khalid hoped that Pakistan would play well against India and win the trophy despite the Indians being a more experienced side.
