Relatives damage hospital as patient dies ‘unattended’

GUJRANWALA: Relatives staged a demonstration after a 20-year-old patient died ‘unattended’ at the DHQ Hospital here on Saturday.
The protesters chanted slogans against the doctors and the hospital administration. They also broke furniture and windowpanes. The protesters said that they shifted patient Hamza to the hospital but the duty doctors allegedly did not attend him. As a result, he died.
Meanwhile, the hospital administration and duty doctors claimed that the patient had already died when he was brought the hospital. They said that no negligence was occurred on the part of doctors. Later, the doctors closed the OPD to register their protest against the protesters for misbehaving with them. On the report of the hospital administration, Civil Lines police have registered four FIRs against the protesters on the charges of breaking furniture, damaging hospital property, threatening doctors and blocking a road.
Recounting begins in different UCs

GUJRANWALA: Recounting of votes in different union councils has begun and the process will be completed today.
Dozens of defeated candidates have filed applications to the DRO for recounting. The DRO has forwarded the applications to the ROs concerned with the direction to complete the recounting process till November 22. The final list of the winning candidates will be placed on November 23.
Meanwhile, PTI workers staged a demonstration in front of the RO office for alleged rigging in UC-54. Dozens of protesters led by Imran Yousaf Gujjar and defeated candidate Rizwan Yousaf chanted slogan against the polling staff and ruling party and demanded recounting. After assurance of recounting, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
