ISLAMABAD: Federal Tax Ombudsman Abdul Rauf Chaudhry had resigned but later resumed his charge as his resignation was not accepted.
It was expected that Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Javed Aslam, who was about to retire on November 10, would be made FTO. The FTO submitted the resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain citing ‘personal reasons’.
However, he was told three days later to take back resignation that coincided with the appointment of Javed Aslam at top position in Trade and Development Bank of Economic Cooperation Organisation.
Abdul Rauf Chaudhry confirmed tendering resignation. About his resignation status, he said it has now been rejected by PM.As The News also contacted Javed Aslam for his side of the story, he didn’t deny.
“I had heard that I was being appointed FTO,” he said. Asked about the resignation of FTO, Javed replied: “I didn’t see his resignation but some folks told me that he (FTO) did. He is my respectable senior.”
