Hand grenade hurled at TV channel’s office in Faisalabad
Two employees injured; PBA condemns attack

FAISALABAD: Two unidentified bike rides hurled a hand grenade at office of Dunya News and injured two employees.The blast also damaged motorcycles and a car parked in front of the office and smashed glasses of windowpanes. The attacker managed to flee.
Faisalabad Union of Journalist, Faisalabad Press Club office-bearers including Sardar Akhtar, Sajid Aleem, Ejaz Hashmat condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest of culprits responsible for this terrorist attack. RPO Muhammad Ehsan Tufail and CPO Muhammad afzal Kausar assured the journalists’ bodies that the culprits would be apprehended today (Saturday) as they have got directions about it from Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) strongly condemned the attack.In a press release, the PBA termed this act as an attempt to curb freedom of expression and to discourage the media from performing its “constitutional” responsibilities.
The PBA expressed complete solidarity with its member channel Dunya News against this act of violence and demanded of the government to take immediate action to apprehend the culprits.
The PBA reiterated and urged the government to take proper and effective measures to provide protection to the media. There have been similar attempts on other media houses as well in the recent past but till now neither the culprits have been apprehended nor has there been any security arrangement made for the media.
