NUML sports gala starts

A month-long Inter-Departmental Sports Gala 2015 kicked off at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Thursday, in which 33 sports events including athletics, cricket, table tennis, football, volleyball, tug of war, body building, badminton and basketball will be held, says a press release.
NUML Director Administration Brigadier (r) Ziaul Hassan Sahi was the chief guest of the ceremony while Assistant Director Sports Muhammad Arshad, Sardar Khan and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the inaugural ceremony Brigadier (r) Zia ul Hassan Sahi said that NUML is committed to provide students equal opportunities of participating in curricular and co-curricular activitiesto make them better human and prepare them to play their due role for the betterment of the motherland.
He cut the inaugural ribbon and visit the ground and shake hands with the teams, he played the first shot of the cricket match to start the event.
Assistant director sports introduced them to the team captains and briefed the chief guest about the events which will be held in the sports gala.
He further told that there was great enthusiasm and fervor among students of different departments, faculty members and staff members, as a great number of male and female teams were enrolling to the events. A total of 33 different events are going to be held in this inter-departmental sports gala and a total of 280 teams boys and girls both have enrolled in events, including cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, wrist wrestling, high jump, discuss, sprint and tug-of-war. A large number of students thronged around the ground and were encouraging their favorite teams. The tournament will be continued till December 19.
