Miniature work showcased at RAC

Lahore-based senior visual artist, author and art teacher Professor S M Mansoor showcased his modern miniature work at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) here on Wednesday.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Punjab Council of the Arts Executive Director Chaudhry Asif Pervaiz. He was accompanied by Naheed Manzoor, PUCAR Deputy Director Naeem Ehsan and RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed.
S M Mansoor, who is considered among the pioneers of modern miniature with 25-year practical experience, has held 24 solo and 10 group shows nationally and internationally. He also has a number of awards to his credit. Painting and teaching is his family profession from many generations. He is from the family of miniature artists of royal court of Patiala and his six generations had worked in the royal court as artists and art teachers.
He is an author of four books, including ‘Logos from Pakistan’ and ‘Mansoor Miniature’, which are internationally acknowledged. He has not only been associated with art institutions in Pakistan but also in India. More than 37 art pieces on modern miniature have been showcased in the exhibition which portray current situation of society.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Council of the Arts (Lahore) Executive Director Chaudhry Asif Pervaiz said that the range of Mansoor's experiments is spectacular as he has used various tools to paint socially and politically relevant themes. He said S M Mansoor is a precious asset of the country who has represented his work internationally and praised for his creativity.
Naheed Manzoor was of the view that Mansoor's images are thought-provoking and innovative and his colours are pleasing and soothing. RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed praised his work and said that S M Mansoor's paintings have come alive with texture. The exhibition will continue till November 21.
