FDA conducts workshop on ‘Academic Planning and Management’

Comsats Institute of Information Technology’s training wing, the Faculty Development Academy (FDA), organised a three-day workshop on ‘Academic Planning & Management,’ tailored for non-faculty members of universities. Thirty-five trainees, from CIIT’s eight campuses, and some other universities, participated in the workshop. Eminent resource persons from prestigious organisations were invited to deliver lectures and addressing the needs and expectations of the trainees.
The workshop’s purpose was to help participants learn important academic and managerial skills to perform their duties more effectively. FDA tried to equip the trainees with the latest knowledge and acquire modern skill-sets.
Three sessions of 90 minutes each were held daily. The topics covered were: maintaining academic records; rapport building; effective office correspondence, and exploring opportunities for professional growth; knowledge management, and fostering unwavering commitment in employees; and effective report writing and time management.
Throughout the workshop, the participants were engaged in group discussions and various other activities. After each session, they were given evaluation forms to assess different aspects of the workshop and obtain their feedback on the resource persons. The participants expressed their deep gratitude towards HEC, CIIT and FDA for providing this growth-engendering opportunity.
Dr. Samina Nadeem, Advisor, Department of Humanities, CIIT Islamabad, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. While addressing the participants, she emphasised the need for periodic trainings and appreciated FDA for organising workshops on multiple themes for faculty and non-faculty members. She also encouraged the trainees to utilize such opportunities and adopt life-long learning for personal and professional growth. Mr. S.M. Junaid, Director FDA also spoke and lauded the participants’ involvement and eagerness for new learning. At the end Dr. Nadeem and Mr. Junaid distributed the certificates among the trainees.
