PTI candidate for UC chairman slot abducted

GUJRANWALA: A candidate for the Union Council No-13 chairman slot was abducted here on Thursday night.
In an application to Jinnah Road police, Haji Muhammad Iqbal said that his son Mian Babar Iqbal, a PTI candidate, went out of the house for electioneering but did not return. He alleged that his son was kidnapped by his political rivals, including Waqar Ahmed Cheema, Sheikh Nasir, Sheikh Ejaz, Abdul Sattar, Faiz, Saifullah, Islam Mughal, Afzal and Irfan. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
Six rifles, 2000 bullets recovered from candidate office

GUJRANWALA: Wazirabad City police recovered illegal arms from the office of a general councillor candidate on Friday.
On a tip-off, police raided the office of Baba Javed, an independent candidate, and recovered six rifles and 2,000 bullets from there.
Later, the supporters of Baba Javed reached the police station and chanted slogans against police for raiding the office. Police have registered a case against 150 supporters for staging a demonstration.
CANDIDATES WARNED: Action against violation of the election code of conduct has been started here.
A team comprising DMO Amanullah, Registrar Shahid Abbas and Registrar Shabbir Butt visited different areas of the city and removed big hoardings and banners. They warned the candidates to follow the code of conduct, otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
Two commit suicide

GUJRANWALA: Two people committed suicide in separate incidents here.
Nadeem, 35, of Rahwali and Umer Farooq, 32, ended their lives by swallowing poisonous pills. The motive behind the incidents is said to be a domestic dispute.
