KARACHI: The final of the Beaconhouse Inter Regional Cricket tournament for O’level Boys was won by the Southern Region at The Moin Khan Academy here on Thursday.
The Central Region won the toss and elected to bat first. Muazzam Aijaz scored 35 off 20 balls and Wali Rizwan scored 23 runs off 25. The team made a total of 126 runs in 20 overs.
Southern Region’s Ahmed Salman Jahazaib took three wickets for 15, while Waleed Hasan gave away 17 runs to take two wickets. Maaz Bin Salman gave away 22 runs to take two wickets.
Hosts and defending champions Southern Region achieved the target for the loss of five wickets.
Skipper Ammar Iqbal scored 54 off 52 balls. Abdullah Sohail scored 33. Central Region’s Hashir Sheikh took one wicket for 15 runs, while Shafay Malik took one wicket for 20.
The player of the tournament award was given to Abdul Wasay of Northern Region; best batsman was Ammar Iqbal of Southern Region; best bowler was Sadaan Khokhar of Central Region; best wicketkeeper was Ammar Iqbal of Southern Region; and the award of best fielder was given to Urwa Butt of Central Region.
