ISLAMABAD: A list of candidates for posts of community welfare attaches (CWAs), which was prepared after a due selection process, was amended on the intervention of the competent authority.
The candidates were selected after they had undergone the following process. They passed a written test through the National Testing Service. They earned Best Annual Confidential Reports of at least three years. They were interviewed by the departmental selection committee (which consists of a panel of three federal secretaries of Foreign affairs, Establishment Division and Secretary Overseas Division).
After the written test of 341 officers, 90 officers appeared before the departmental selection committee for the interviews along their annual confidential reports. Following the process in March this year a summary was moved to the competent authority containing the names of 11 candidates.
The following 11 officers were finalized by the three federal secretaries:
1-Ateeq ur Rehman Khan, BS-17 Information Group officer currently working with PID, for Muscat.
2-Salman Afzal, BS-18 officer of Pakistan Customs Service, for Jeddah.
3-Farrukh Ali, BS-18 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, for Seoul.
4-Omer Saeed Malik, BPS-18 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, for Barcelona.
5-Muhammad Wasif Mumtaz, BS-18 officer working with Inter Services Intelligence, for Riyadh.
6-Faisal Rind, BPS-19 officer of Audit and Accounts, for Dubai.
7-Rana Shakeel Asghar, BPS-19 officer of Audit and Accounts, for Jeddah.
8-Fazl-e-Hamid, BS-19 officer of Police Service, for Abu Dhabi.
9-Syed Hassan Raza, BS-19 officer, for Baghdad.
10-Ahmad Muaz, an ISI officer of BS-18, for Athens.
11-Sarfraz Durrani, BS-19 officer of Administrative Service, for Riyadh.
In the summary also available with this correspondent, besides the above mentioned names the three federal secretaries also suggested six more names for the vacancies which were falling vacant in June to avoid the long process of conducting the exercise.
The sources claimed that the mover of the summary was asked by the competent authority to change the summary.
Objections were then raised on the already selected names. Thus the entire exercise of selecting the officers was washed away.
