Faisalabad Wasa to prepare new 25-year master plan

FAISALABAD: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) will chalk out a new 25-year master plan for augmentation of potable water, construction of drains, improvement of sewerage and pumping stations, said Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz.
Chairing a meeting here, he said that the government of Japan would bear the entire cost of the project. He said that the present master plan was chalked out in 1993 with the cooperation and assistance of the World Bank and it would expire in 2017. He said that the study report of the new master plan would be completed in a year while the project would be accomplished in five years.
Later, the JICA team visited the pumping station and inspected sewerage and its disposal. The JICA team expressed satisfaction over working of the Wasa.
360 booked for blocking roads

FAISALABAD: People’s Colony and Gulberg police have registered two cases against 360 persons on the charges of staging demonstrations, blocking roads and delivering provocative speeches relating to the local government elections.
As many as 184 persons have been booked by People’s Colony police and majority of them belong to the PTI and 160 people, including Kh Rizwan of the PML-N, have been booked by Gulberg police. All the accused have been booked under Sections 290, 291, 148 and 149 of the PPC and 16 MPO.
Two commit, four others attempt suicide in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Two people committed and four others attempted suicide in different incidents here on Wednesday.
In the first incident, Ahtesham Rashid of Sargodha Road ended his life by hanging himself with a fan after quarrelling with his father. In the second incident, Abdul Ghani of Chak 277/GB ended his life by shooting himself over a domestic dispute. Meanwhile, Gogi of Aminpur, Nabeela of Batala Colony, Aurangzeb and Nadeem of Jaranwala attempted suicide. It is worth mentioning that two unemployed labourers committed suicide on Tuesday.

The case was registered on the complaint of Naheed Kausar, presiding officer of Chak 31/JB polling station.
