AIOU holds condolence reference for Justice Javed Iqbal

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Tuesday held a condolence reference in memory of late Justice Javed Iqbal and decided to establish a ‘Iqbal-Corner’ in its Central Library as well as publishing a research Journal on the life and work of Dr. Muhammad Iqbal.
Speakers at the reference paid him rich tributes and eulogised his qualities of head and heart. Javed Iqbal, they said was a true legacy of his father who translated vision and thoughts of his father in a befitting manner. Speakers included eminent scholars and writers Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Kishwar Naheed, Dr. Ayub Sabir, Khurshid Ahmed Shakoor, Syed Mansoor Aqil and Professor Dr. Shahid Iqbal Kamran
Paying homage to Dr. Javed Iqbal, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui announced that ‘Iqbal Corner’ will be formally inaugurated by the end of this month, besides publishing a special book that will consist of speeches of Dr. Javed Iqbal’s which he delivered during his visits to AIOU for the last ten years..
It will be the first ever book after his death. AIOU, he added will also recast the famous drama which was staged in the early age of Javed Iqbal on the life of his father.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui further said that it was their pride that the AIOU is after the name of this great poet and philosopher. The University made its best efforts to convey his message to the young generation through various academic pursuits. He noted that late Javed Iqbal had been regularly visiting the University and he always acknowledged its role in doing extensive research work on the intellectual thoughts of his father.
The AIOU has the distinction of publishing some exclusive and rare research papers on Dr. Muhammad Iqbal. These papers are great source of knowledge to understand Iqbal’s thoughts on Islam and Muslims’ civilization.
The speakers highlighted their personal affiliation an interaction with late Javed Iqbal as well as their experience and impression about his poetic and intellectual work. Late Javed reproduced the message of his father in a true spirit.
‘Fateha’ was also offered on the occasion for late Dr. Javed Iqbal. The function was arranged by the University’s department of Iqbaliyat.
