The Young Doctors Association (YDA), Pakistan has claimed that Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) fixed Rs 200,000 as election fee to contest in the upcoming elections of the council.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the YDA, Pakistan general-secretary, Dr Salman Kazmi, said election fee is nominal even for MPA or general councilor’s election, but the fee is fixed at Rs 200,000 to contest elections of PMDC. “This unjustified election fee to contest PMDC election is an attempt to keep young doctors out of the election process,” he said, adding they would challenge this decision in Lahore High Court.
