A new book titled ‘Wit and Wisdom’ containing selected humorous poetry of Professor Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid, translated into English by Dr. Safdar Ali Shah, who has dedicated this book to his grand-daughter Zoya, says a press release.
Dr. Safdar Ali Shah is a well known writer and researcher and he has published a number of books on a variety of subjects including a quarter of coffee-table books on the cultural heritage of Pakistan and colonialism, English and Punjabi. Presently, he is Director Publishing and Student Affairs at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. Dr. Safdar has translated the most popular humorous poems of Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid, Managing Director of National Book Foundation (NBF). Dr. Safdar Ali Shah, the translator, says the humorous poetry provides much needed catharsis to the common people who are frustrated by prevailing socio-economic conditions. Dr. Safdar has mentioned that Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid is a representative modern humorist who successfully employs general humour to embellish his poetry.
