Hindu community groups active in the city on Monday appealed to the authorities concerned to ensure that all Hindu employees in different departments of the Sindh government and Karachi Municipal Corporation were paid salaries in advance ahead of Diwali.
The Hindu community will celebrate their religious festival on November 11 but their leaders said that most Hindu community members, who mainly work in different government institutions, were yet to receive their salaries for September and October.
Parkash P Chanaal, a leader of the Pakistan Harijan Federation, a Hindu rights group, said that the community members were very concerned over non-payment of salaries as it would severely affect their Diwali celebrations. “Most of the Hindu community members are employed in DMC South and they have still not been paid salaries for September and October," Chanaal told The News.
