Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has rejected the results of local government elections, alleging that worst-ever rigging was witnessed in Saturday’s elections when police with the collaboration of Election Commission ensured maximum votes were polled for government-backed candidates. Talking to newsmen, PAT secretary general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, chief coordinator Major (Retd) Mohammed Saeed and secretary information Noorullah Sadiqui alleged that the ECP had once again failed to conduct free, fair and impartial elections. They said people were once again robbed of their right to vote when in every union council of Punjab, police helped state-sponsored candidates in casting votes in their favor.
