PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan has disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Mansehra district minority member Saeed Luqman Shair Gil for violating the party discipline during the elections for district and tehsil Nazims on August 30, 2015.
Earlier, the ex Provincial President and District Councillor for Charsadda Akbar Khan Matta was also summoned by the ECP for violating party discipline in the elections for district and tehsil Nazims. The ECP disqualified Saeed Luqman Shair Gil for violating the party discipline under the defection clause of the third amendment of Local Government Act, KP.
The PTI Provincial Secretariat, the Provincial Organiser Fazal Muhammad Khan was summoned by the CEC during the hearing to represent party position and stance. Fazal Muhammad stated in a statement, “Anyone who violates the constitution of PTI has no future in the party. Action against 57 councillors in KP ought to be an example for others. “It said that the PTI had issued show cause notices to 57 councillors throughout province for violating party discipline during the elections for District and Tehsil Nazim held on August 30.
Subsequently, it said all 57 councillors were expelled from the party after which references for their defection were sent to the ECP for further action. After preliminary examination of evidence against the violators, ECP rescheduled the hearing of Akbar Khan Matta and two councillors from Manshera for November 3, 2015.
