PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) Senior Vice-President Ghulam Ahmad Bilour has criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for what he believed its complete failure in rescuing and providing relief to the earthquake affected people.
Addressing a news conference at his residence here on Wednesday, he said thousands of earthquake affected families were forced to live under the open sky in cold. He said that the relief amount announced by the provincial government for the affected people was a joke with them.
He said the government has announced Rs300,000 compensation for the dead and Rs100,000 for the injured people. “The government should tell as who can rebuild a house with Rs100,000,” he asked.
The elderly politician was of the opinion that if the daily expenses of Banigala are spent on the earthquake victims, several families would be rehabilitated. He said the government had been unable to have access to the far-flung areas of Shangla and other worst affected districts of Malakand and Hazara divisions. Thousands of houses have been damaged and the educational institutions destroyed there, he added.
The MNA said Imran Khan was not a well-wisher of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding his only goal was the prime ministerial slot. The ANP leader also expressed reservations about federal minister Ehsan Iqbal’s statement over China-Pakistan-Economic Corridor. He said that the corridor was not a mere road, but a complete economic programme. The government should give due share to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the multi-billion project.
Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said that the PTI leadership in Banigala should ask for details of the project from the federal government. They should know the share of the province in the project and struggle for the rights of the Pakhtuns, he added.
