An orientation ceremony for the newly admitted students of Punjab University’s Oriental College was held at Sherani Hall, Old Campus here on Wednesday.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran was the chief guest, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Ismatullah Zahid, Prof Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria, Prof Dr Zahur Ahmad Azhar, Prof Dr Mazhar Moeen, heads of different departments and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran said powerful army and atomic bomb were guarantee to survival of Pakistan. He said PU Oriental College was an asset for the country which was playing pivotal role in promotion of languages. He said that the Muslims of Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and other countries were being exploited because of their distance from knowledge. He advised the students to adopt reading habit and work for the betterment of country. Dr Ismatullah Zahid said scientific knowledge created machines but language and literature produced the best human beings. He thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for eliminating negative politics from the campus. Later, the PU VC also inaugurated newly-built cafeteria at Oriental College.
