Newly built girls’ hostel inaugurated in Chitral

CHITRAL: Lauding the services of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) for the promotion of education, commandant of the paramilitary Chitral Scouts, Col Nizamuddin Shah, said on Sunday that acquiring knowledge was a prerequisite for progress and development.
He was speaking at a ceremony after inaugurating the newly constructed girls’ hostel for the students of the Frontier Corps Public School. The SRSP completed the project under the PEACE project of European Union.Addressing the gathering, Col Nizamuddin said the security forces were also collaborating with the non-governmental organisations to develop the underdeveloped rural areas in the far-flung areas in the country.
SRSP District Programme Manager Tariq Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.
Major Fayyaz Mir of the Chitral Scouts, and other officials were also were also in attendance. Tariq Ahmad said that SRSP Chief Executive Officer Masoodul Mulk had announced the construction of the hostel’s building at a ceremony two years back. He said the project was completed at a cost of Rs3.8 million.
He added that now the girl students hailing from the far-flung areas would be able to seek admissions to the Frontier Corps Public School as they would no longer face accommodation problem.
Meanwhile, Malakand Division Commissioner Usman Gul visited the Golen Gol Power House, which is also being constructed by the SRSP with the financial help of the European Union.
Assuring help to the local administration, he said he would extend all-out cooperation to complete project on time.He hoped the power crisis in the Chitral town and its adjoining areas would end with the completion of the project. The commissioner also appreciated the EU for providing funds for the construction of the project.
