The capital city’s privately-owned schools and colleges will mark the anniversary of India’s invasion and occupation of Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, as ‘black day’.
This will happen in line with the directions of their watchdog, PEIRA.
According to PEIRA secretary Javed Iqbal, the marking of October 27 as ‘black day’ every year is for a national cause.
“This is the least we can do for our Kashmiri brethren in the India-occupied Kashmir as the worst kind of atrocities and rights violations are being committed against them by Indian forces. We’ve directed private educational institutions to arrange ceremonies on their premises to highlight the Kashmir cause. Debate competitions may also be arranged,” he said.
The PEIRA secretary said schools and colleges had been directed to formally inform the authority about such activities.
