The residents of the federal capital visiting H-8 and H-9 graveyards to offer 'fateha' at graves of their loved ones have demanded of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to make arrangements for their proper maintenance and upkeep on a regular basis. They said that bushes and shrubs should be removed along with provision of all basic facilities.
In the light of complaints, the CDA management has directed the concerned formations of the civic body to ensure cleanliness and provision of facilities in the two graveyards.
The Capital Development Authority Directorate of Municipal Administration will ensure provision of facilities to the people visiting the graveyards during Muharram-ul-Haram.
CDA Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed issued these directions during his visit to the graveyards in Sector H-8 and H-11 here on Wednesday.
He directed the concerned formations of the civic body for proper cleanliness and removal of wild bushes and shrubs in the graveyards.
He said that every year, during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram, a large number of people visit the graveyards for offering 'fateha' at the graves of their loved ones. He directed the concerned formations of the civic body to fulfill their responsibilities and keep the graveyards neat and tidy for the convenience of the visitors.
CDA Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed further directed the concerned officials to ensure availability of water, provision of copies of the Holy Quran and other Islamic books in the graveyards.
He also directed the concerned formations to ensure proper cleanliness and removal of shrubs and wild grass, particularly on the occasion of 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram, and depute the staff for the guidance of the visitors in the graveyards.
Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority has completed upgradation and revamping of public toilets in the federal capital. In this connection, 77 out of 93 public toilets in the city have been renovated and made fully operational, while work on the remaining is in progress at a fast pace.
The upgradation included replacement of floors and wall tiles, change of all necessary items, internal and external paint, roof treatment, replacement of doors and windows and all electrical works.
In order to make this facility more beneficial, public toilets have been divided into five lots and contract for each lot was awarded to different contractors. The contractor of each lot is responsible for maintenance, management and operation of public toilets, however, the whole process is being supervised by the CDA.
The public toilets mostly exist in the busy areas, particularly in business and shopping centres of the city.
The Capital Development Authority management has directed the Sanitation Directorate to ensure all facilities in public toilets so that residents could get benefit from this facility.
